Brief Job Description:

The Crisis Therapist position is a unique opportunity to for an individual seeking to work with a team of dedicated staff who recognize the importance of serving individuals in crisis.  LifeSkills Adult Crisis Unit provides crisis response and prevention for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or intellectual/developmental disabilities related needs.  Our team is committed to providing 24/7 crisis care to adults in a safe, professional and compassionate manner. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete KRS 202A involuntary hospital evaluations.
  • Provide supportive interventions to adults in a 24-hour mental health facility, ensuring that they have access to psychotherapy as well as an individual service plan and treatment plan.
  • Provide screenings to walk-in's and phone referral.
  • Additional responsibilities may include performing evaluations for the jail diversion and providing mobile crisis interventions to adults and children outside of LifeSkills facilities.

Work Hours

Education and Experience:

  • Position requires a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family, counseling with independent licensure or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with certification as a psychiatric and mental health nurse by American Nursing Association. 
  • Must meet requirements of Qualified Mental Health Professional as defined by KRS 202A
  • Strong preference for the candidate to have previous experience with crisis services
  • Good verbal and communication skills are necessary along with the ability to work calmly under stressful conditions.
