Brief Job Description: The CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) Therapist will provide outreach/crisis response and therapy with Warren County Police Department Officers to increase CIT Initiatives. The CIT Therapist will work in the community responding with police officers to crisis calls, for individuals with mental health, substance use or both, in order to assist with intervention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct crisis intervention services in the community with CIT officers.
  • Complete intake/screening/assessment process as needed.
  • Provide education and outreach to the community regarding CIT initiatives and services available.
  • Will maintain appropriate clinical boundaries with police department personnel observing all relevant HIPPA and professional Board standards for confidentiality, privilege, and obtaining proper releases of information.
  • Comply with required clinical supervisory requirements assigned by state boards or agency. 
  • May be called upon to provide training and/or consultation for police officers.
  • May sit on committees and/or workgroups within the police department as needed and as time allows.
  • Individual will complete all training requirements of the police department for their assigned position.

Work Hours

  • Schedule primarily day shift but flexible hours may be required

Education and Experience

  • Required Masters Degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family, or psychology is and pursuit of a licensure or certification under a professional board.
  • Licensure or certification under a Kentucky professional board is required (LPCA/LPCC, CSW/LCSW, LMFT, etc)
