Title: Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (Therapist I)

Brief Job Description:

  1. quality psychotherapy to children who are 0-5 years old and experiencing mental illness or behavior problems. Services are provided in a variety of settings including the clinic, school, and home, with an emphasis on home-based services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide direct service/psychotherapy to children mental health clients, including group, individual, family, collateral, consultation, and psycho educational.

Complete intake/screening/assessment process

 

  1. treatment plans for clients, and complete all required documentation.

 

Complete all correspondence in a timely fashion.

 

Participate in clinical staffing/treatment meetings providing feedback on all pertinent cases.

 

Maintain agency expectation for productivity.

 

Document all services provided in accordance with agency standards. 

 

Maintain positive, professional relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers, adhering to Code of Ethics and agency policies.

 

Handle crisis situations as they arise.

 

  1. an expert knowledge base regarding current practices and research.

 

Flexible work schedule (to include evenings and weekends).

 

Utilize referral sources and receive referrals as appropriate.

 

Be a team member on agency and local committees as needed/assigned.

 

Receive referrals regarding children age 0-6 with a majority of them in daycare.

 

Provide trainings to daycares, agency and community as requested.

 

Maintain Early Childhood Grant.

 

Perform other related work as required and assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family, or psychology.

Certification or licensure eligibility.

Experience working with children with severe emotional disturbances in a psychotherapy setting preferred.
