Title: Transitions Peer Support Specialist

Worksite: Warren Service Center

County: Warren

Hours Status: Full-Time, Mon-Fri, 8a-5p

Pay Range:  $13.25 hourly

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide a variety of recovery-oriented services to individuals who have self-identified as desiring peer supports, in order to promote greater independence, community integration and recovery from mental illness and/or substance abuse.  Provide peer services that will assist individuals in their homes or personal care homes.  Will assist connecting clients with other resources and/or appointments and provide follow up with clients to assist in ongoing treatment.

 

Services provided by peer specialists include a wide range of supports, services, and advocacy that contribute to a client’s ability to engage in ongoing treatment. Assist in the development of peer-led programming.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an individual who lives with a mental health diagnosis and/or substance use disorder and has demonstrated at least two years of commitment to his/her own personal recovery.
  • Must be in recovery from a mental health diagnosis and/or substance use disorder, who meets the abstinence requirements for recovery staff in alcohol and other drug treatment programs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record required
